Modern Wedding Invitations with a Cultural Twist

At Ivory & Ink Weddings, we love when couples come to us with a clear vision especially when it involves blending traditional elements with modern design.

For Aashima and Irabaan’s wedding, they wanted their invitation suite to honour cultural traditions while still feeling fresh and contemporary. They asked for a custom design that included mandala artwork and a line drawing of Lord Ganesh – two beautiful, meaningful symbols that we carefully wove into their invitations.

One unique aspect of this suite was that they needed three different versions of the invitation, each tailored for different guests:

  • Traditional English Invitations: These included formal wording and both families' names.

  • Traditional Bengali Invitations: These were entirely in Bengali script, incorporating grandparents’ names and extra cultural detail.

  • Simple English Invitations: Designed for international guests, these featured a clean layout and a QR code linking to their wedding website.

The suite was a perfect example of how wedding stationery can be personal, inclusive, and practical – without losing its style. Each version featured the same artwork, colour palette and layout, so everything felt cohesive, no matter which design the guest received.

One of the best parts? I received this beautiful message from the couple:

"I received the invitations this weekend and they look absolutely magnificent! Thank you so much for all of your work and making the vision come to life. We truly appreciate your help, time and art!"

Creating these invitations was such a rewarding experience, and it was an honour to help bring Aashima and Irabaan’s vision to life.
