Before you send your files

Supplying your own design? Please have a read through these guidelines before requesting a print quote. They're standard industry practice and will help your stationery print as beautifully as possible.

Your Artwork

As you're supplying the artwork, it's your responsibility to make sure it's print ready and set up with enough room for normal print tolerance.

Please note, orders that don't follow these guidelines won't be eligible for a reprint if you're not happy with the result.

File Setup

• Supply a high resolution, print ready PDF
• Set all colours to CMYK
• Outline all fonts and elements
• Images should be at least 300dpi
• Make your file the same size as the finished item (e.g. an A5 file for an A5 card), with 3mm bleed where needed

Guest Names & Addresses

If each piece has different details, like guest names on invitations or addresses on envelopes, please supply your file with one page per guest. For example, 100 envelope addresses means a 100 page PDF.

Borders

As card feeds through the printer, it can shift very slightly. It's completely normal and can't be avoided, so borders need a little extra care:

• Keep line borders at least 5mm from the edge (10mm is ideal)
• Solid borders that run to the edge need 3mm bleed
• Avoid borders on both sides of the card, as any movement will make one side look uneven once trimmed

Large Solid Colour Areas

I recommend avoiding large areas of solid colour, especially on textured card. The ink doesn't always sit evenly on a textured surface, which can cause streaking (banding) and slight colour differences.

If you'd like a coloured background, choosing one of my coloured card stocks will give you a much nicer finish.

White Ink

• Set anything you'd like printed in white to 100% black in your file
• Please don't mix white ink and coloured ink in the same design
• White ink works best on darker stocks. I don't recommend it on lighter colours like Powder Blue or Sea Mist, as there isn't enough contrast for it to stand out

Envelopes

• Envelopes can't be printed edge to edge, so keep your design at least 10mm from every edge
• Supply one page per address (see Guest Names & Addresses above)
