The Complete Wedding Day Stationery Checklist

Wedding invitations tend to get all the attention early on, but there's a whole second wave of stationery that comes together closer to the big day, and it's easy to forget a piece or two until the last minute. Here's a complete list to work through as you plan.

At the entrance

A welcome sign is usually the first piece of stationery your guests see, setting the tone before they even reach the reception. Directional signage is also worth considering for larger venues, pointing guests toward the ceremony, bathrooms, or reception space.

Finding a seat

A seating chart helps guests find their table quickly rather than wandering the room. If you've got assigned seating within tables, place cards finish the job by pointing guests to their exact seat once they arrive.

On the table

Table numbers help tie the seating chart back to the physical tables. Menus let guests know what's coming (and flag any dietary notes), and are a lovely small styling detail even at a simpler reception. Some couples also add a small order-of-events card for guests curious about the run of the evening.

At the bar

Bar signage is an easy one to forget, whether it's a simple drinks list, a sign pointing guests to the bar, or something playful like a cocktail named after the two of you.

Other nice-to-haves

Depending on your reception, you might also consider: a wishing well or gift card sign, if you're not doing a traditional gift table; a guestbook sign; and thank you cards, ready to go for after the big day.
